Ewing Park Advanced Trail, Phase 1 complete

CITA would like to thank everyone involved with the Ewing Park Advance Trail project. Without the support of our donors, partners and members we would never have been able to complete this project.

·         REI West Des Moines: REI through their grant program gave CITA $8000 for the Ewing Advanced project. This generous donation was the foundation for the entire effort. Please give a big thanks to REI and Justin Guiter for helping CITA with the grant and being so understanding throughout the process.

·         The City of Des Moines Parks and Recreation: Thank you DSM Parks and Rec, you have been an excellent partner and gracious land manager, without your support the majority of the trails that CITA maintains would not exist. Ron Ward and his Parks crew we’re great to work with and really helped out providing materials and manpower for the project.

·         Backyard Trails LLC: Ken Barker knocked it out of the park (ha!). Not only is Ken professional, meticulous, dedicated and a hard-working trail builder he’s also just a great guy, this was supposed to be work and Ken made it fun! Ken put together a great plan and then executed it perfectly, going above and beyond making sure that he left the trail better than he found it. Ken cannot be recommended enough.

·         Absolute Group: Randy Aldridge and the Absolute Group stepped up and donated the extra dirt and gravel needed for this build. Without these materials the Phase 1 section would not be half the fun that it is.

·         Rick Seward Trucking: Rick provided equipment to move the dirt which we simply could not have managed otherwise.

·         Individuals: Joel Donaghy, Troy Pierce, Brian Sheesley, Jeff Stegman, Dave McCloney, Brian Swanson and Rob Cook all put in the extra effort to make sure that this happened. Without the extra hands being available for the entire project it would never have been completed.

·         CITA Board Members past and Present: When the call went out the Board stepped up and answered, to all the members that carried way too much lumber, hauled far too much gravel and moved all the turf stones, thank you. To the former Board members who had the vision of  what Ewing could be and made this possible we thank you, Ewing Advanced has been years in the making and it took many members working on this to get to the stage that we’re now at.
