Hey Ryan, thanks for putting together two great races last weekend. We had a good time…except for the bike problems Neal G. had on the first race and ended up riding basically a single speed.
Luckily, Kyle S fixed it for him and he was able to ride hard at Sycamore. Neal appreciated his assistance. THANKS KYLE!
We know there were some issues with having only one stopwatch when it zeroed out (or something like that) at the Sycamore race. We thought is was all worked out after Neal and others verified their time according to their watches. Neal’s time was actually 9:01:39, which is a minute faster than recorded. My time was 12:22, also a minute off, which seemed to be the theme after the watch quit. Neal was also timing others as they came in behind him and Bill started two minutes after Neal and came in two minutes and two seconds after Neal finished. So Neal beat him by two seconds. (Sorry, no offense and I don’t mean to sound like a hater because I really am not.) We are not sure how the times were decided after the watch quit; however, we thought our times had been recorded correctly after we verified them from our watches with the timekeepers. Now they have been changed. Perplexing.
This is not as significant; but, Neal also said he wrote CAT 2 Sport and not Elite as that is what he has been racing this year. Therefore the time inaccuracy and Elite vs Sport would mess with the points he should get from the Sycamore race. Please feel free to contact Neal at 991-6811 to help resolve this matter. My time recorded does not change my points; but, I did do better than reflected…it is a matter of pride.
It is not always easy being in charge and again, we truly appreciate all of your time, the other volunteers and your families. We would not have been able to have enjoyed the great Sunday without your dedication. THANK YOU.
That is correct Elaine. My time was definately 9:01. I just uploaded my polar watch to the computer with the time, distance, heartrates, and speeds throughout the race. My time is definately not the only time that is incorrect. I know that Ryan Wilkins time was 9:17 which is also 1 min off like yours Elaine. Jeff Anker’s time is also at least 1min faster. Bill F. just passed Jeff at the end of the race and Bill F. started 1min behind Jeff yet Bill’s time was about 2:10 faster. Bill’s time is correct but I’m not sure how the other times are off since Bill was also one of the last racers.
Anyway, it is too bad the stopwatch malfunctioned or something as it made it quite difficult to figure the correct times obviously.
Anyway it was fun for me, especially since distance is not my best thing and sprinting is my strength.
